ITINERARY
Day 1: Welcome and City Tour of Lima – History and Modernity
Explore the Peruvian capital on a tour that blends colonial tradition with modernity. We’ll visit the Historic Center, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where you’ll see the Plaza Mayor, the Cathedral, and the Convent of San Francisco with its famous catacombs. Then, you’ll explore Miraflores and the bohemian district of Barranco, overlooking the Pacific Ocean.
Day 2: Full Day Paracas – Ballestas Islands and National Reserve
Early departure to Paracas. Board a speedboat to the Ballestas Islands, home to sea lions, penguins, and guano birds. See the famous “El Candelabro” geoglyph. Then visit the Paracas National Reserve, with its desert and ocean landscapes. Return to Lima in the afternoon.
Day 3: Flight Lima – Cusco and Free Day for Acclimatization
Transfer to the airport for your flight to Cusco. Upon arrival, you’ll have the afternoon free to acclimatize to the 3,400 meters above sea level. Alternatively, you can take a light stroll through the San Blas neighborhood, the Plaza de Armas, or visit the San Pedro Market to sample local produce.
Day 4: Sacred Valley of the Incas Tour – Andean Culture and Landscapes
Discover the magical Sacred Valley: start in Pisac with its artisan market and archaeological site; continue to Urubamba for an Andean buffet lunch. Then visit the Ollantaytambo fortress and finally Chinchero, known for its traditional weavings. In the afternoon, take the train to Aguas Calientes.
Day 5: Machu Picchu – Wonder of the World
The most anticipated day: Machu Picchu, the Inca citadel and World Heritage Site. Guided tour of temples, ceremonial sites, and agricultural terraces. Free time to explore or climb Huayna Picchu (optional). Return by train and bus to Cusco.
Day 6: Trekking to Laguna Humantay – Natural Beauty at High Altitude
Early departure to Soraypampa to begin the hike to the impressive Humantay Lagoon, famous for its turquoise waters surrounded by snow-capped mountains. Ideal for spectacular photos and a connection with nature. Return to Cusco.
Day 7: Rainbow Mountain Trekking – Vinicunca Adventure
Early departure for Vinicunca, known as the Rainbow Mountain. A hike of approximately 1.5 to 2 hours will take you to the viewpoint, from where you can appreciate the vibrant mineral hues of this geological wonder. Lunch will follow, and you will return to Cusco. Final transfer to the airport or bus terminal.
