If you’re visiting Cusco and want to get away from the city for a few days to see some
of the most stunning scenery in the highlands, look no further than our 2-day
“Humantay Lake” and “Salkantay Pass” tour.
Humantay Lake and Salkantay Mountain are two of the most impressive locations in
Peru’s “Cusco” area. You’ll also get to spend the night in our camp beneath the
Andean starry sky, learning about the constellations that were important during the
Inca time. Join like-minded travelers on a spectacular two-day journey.

DAY1 – Cusco – Challacancha – Soraypampa – Humantay Lake – Camp.
Begin your hike to “Soraypampa” from “Challacancha”. Hike up to “Humantay Lake”
in the afternoon and spend the night at our campsite.
DAY 2 – Camp -Salkantaypampa – Salkantay Pass – Soyrococha – Soraypampa –
Cusco
Hike up to “Salkantay Pass” along the Trail of the Seven Snakes this morning for
stunning views before lunch. Enjoy the journey as you return to Cusco in our private
transport.

ITINERARY Humantay Lagoon to Salkantay Tour 2 Days

Day 1: Cusco – Mollepata – Soraypampa – Humantay Lagoon

Your thrilling two-day experience begins early in the morning when your tour guide
and driver pick you up from your Cusco hotel. The day’s first visit will be “Mollepata”
for a nutritious breakfast. Then we’ll continue our trek till we reach “Challacancha”
for a little break.
From here, we’ll begin our trek toward our camp in “Soraypampa”. This initial stretch
is not too difficult and will help you acclimate to the altitude. You’ll discover that you
spend the majority of your time following a little Inca canal while admiring the
breathtaking Andean scenery.
We will arrive at our lodgings, Camp, in front of the spectacular and snow-capped
Salkantay and Humantay mountains, where the welcome staff will await you with a
delicious meal. After that, you’ll have some free time to relax in your campsite
before we go out for our afternoon trek.
Following a meal, we’ll trek upward to Humantay Lake, taking it leisurely owing to
the altitude. When you reach the top, you’ll have time to admire the stunning view
of the jewel-like lake against the beautiful, white backdrop.
Once again you’ll then return to our campsite for a delicious meal and some
stargazing. Your guide will teach you all about Inca astronomy. When you go to bed,
you’ll be able to look out the roof of your camp and let the constellations guide you
to sleep.

Day 2: Soraypampa – Salkantay Mountain Viewpoint – Soraypampa – Cusco

Begin with the second day. The cooks will wake you up with a cup of hot “coca tea”
at 5:00 a.m., allowing you time to repack and prepare for a nutritious breakfast
served around 5:45 a.m.After a full, gourmet breakfast, prepare for a modest ascent
on your second day of hiking.
Then we’ll continue our climb to the highest point of the “Salkantay trail,” which
stands at 4,630 meters. The uphill climb lasts around 3 to 4 hours at a steady,
leisurely pace.
Once you reach the peak, you’ll have time to appreciate the mountain views, snap
photographs, and learn about the mountain gods from your guide. You will also take
part in a modest Andean rite to thank the Apus, the mountain gods. After that, you’ll
start the 2.5-hour downhill journey back to “Soraypampa,” where transportation will
be ready to take you to “Mollepata” for lunch. After lunch, you’ll travel back to
“Cusco” for around two hours, arriving about 18:00 p.m.
