Monumental sculptures, fantastic beings and wetlands on a different tour of Cusco

Cusco not only preserves Inca walls and colonial temples. In its surroundings there are also artistic parks, carved rock sculptures, figures built with roots and recreational spaces that mix Andean stories with fantasy characters.

The Mysterious Route is designed for those looking for a quiet day, with short walks and several opportunities to take photographs. The tour begins in Apukunaq Tianan, in the sector of Sencca, where large faces, animals and figures linked to the Andean worldview appear integrated into the mountain.

Then you will continue to the Valley of the Goblins, a theme park installed between Alto Qosqo rock formations. The route continues to Huasao, where you will know a recovered wetland and parks with sculptures made with wood, roots and logs.

With Peceros Agency Travel, you will have tour, professional guide and income included in a single day. No special physical preparation is required, although you will walk along dirt, stone and areas that may present mud during the rainy season.

Itinerary

DAY 1

Departure from Cusco

Highlights: quiet start from the city, without pick-up at dawn.

The tour will start at approximately 10:00 a.m.

The meeting point or pick-up time will be confirmed the day before. In the group service a central point of Cusco can be established, while in the private service you can coordinate the pickup from the hotel within the operating area.

Before boarding the vehicle, the guide will check the passenger list and explain the order of the visits.

The route brings together places located in different sectors of Cusco. Because of this, the order can be modified according to the traffic, the opening hours and the number of visitors in each park.

Bring water and a snack, as the program does not include meals.

Perception of the passenger

The scale of the sculptures is best understood when you walk near them. From afar they may seem like part of the wall, but as you approach, faces, hands and reliefs of several meters appear.

In the high sectors it can feel wind. It is also possible to notice a slight shortness of breath if you have just arrived in Cusco, since the visit is made at an altitude similar or above the city.

Perception of the passenger

Part of the dynamic is walking slowly and observing the details. Some figures can go unnoticed if you advance fast.

The trails are short, although there are steps, stones and small slopes. On rainy days, certain areas may become slippery.

Environmental value

The sculptures attract attention, but the wetland must be treated as a sensitive ecosystem.

The passenger must not:

  • Enter the water.
  • Start plants.
  • Feeding birds.
  • Shed waste.
  • Get off the trails.
  • Emit loud noises near wildlife.

Bird watching depends on the season, noise and movement within the park.

Perception of the passenger

The twisted roots and trunks form expressions that change depending on the angle from which they are observed.

These are not ancient figures or Andean idols. They are contemporary works created for artistic and recreational purposes.

The tour can be pleasant for children, although they should avoid climbing in sculptures that have not been designed as games.

Technical Details

  • Departure time: approximately 10:00 a.m.
