ESNNA Code of Conduct Against the Sexual Exploitation of Children and Adolescents in Tourism
The ESNNA Code consists of a set of regulations, policies, and standards promoted by the Peruvian government to prevent the sexual exploitation of children and adolescents within the tourism sector. Sexual exploitation of minors is understood as the use of a child’s or adolescent’s body for sexual, pornographic, or erotic purposes in exchange for money, a promise of payment, or any other benefit, such as food, clothing, mobile devices, or similar items.
This ESNNA Code is established under Ministerial Resolution No. 430-2018-MINCETUR and includes a Mandatory Affidavit of Adherence to the Code of Conduct against the Sexual Exploitation of Children and Adolescents, which Peceros Travel Agency has formally signed as evidence of its acceptance and commitment to uphold these principles and protect the physical and moral integrity of minors in all its operations.
In line with its internal policies and its philosophy of comprehensive development for partners and suppliers, Peceros Travel Agency commits to the following actions:
Refrain from promoting destinations or travel programs that openly or covertly encourage the sexual exploitation of minors.
Not provide information to visitors about places where organized or actual commercial sexual exploitation of minors occurs, whether directly or through intermediaries.
Avoid transporting tourists to locations where sexual exploitation of minors is practiced, including accommodations or vessels (such as boats in open waters) where such activities are tolerated.
Refrain from renting vehicles on commonly used routes to individuals who may use them to sexually abuse or exploit minors.
Prevent minors from entering bars, lodging facilities, hotels, and other tourism-related establishments in order to protect them from sexual abuse or exploitation.
Take firm action to prevent any employee or associated personnel from offering tourism services that facilitate sexual contact with minors.
Ensure internal mechanisms exist for reporting incidents to the appropriate authorities and promptly inform MINCETUR and other competent entities of any information related to places connected to the sexual exploitation of minors.
Develop and disseminate internal policies that define measures to prevent and combat child and adolescent sexual exploitation in tourism, both within the organization and among its suppliers.
Provide regular training to all staff members on preventing the commercial sexual exploitation of minors.
Inform travelers of the severe legal consequences in Peru for abusing or sexually exploiting children and adolescents.
Display this Code of Conduct and any additional child protection commitments in visible areas accessible to staff within all commercial establishments.
In accordance with Law No. 28251, Peceros Travel Agency formally notifies visitors that the sexual abuse and exploitation of minors is a criminal offense in Peru and is punishable by law.
