Captive flight at dawn, country breakfast and toast between the Andes

The day begins before dawn, when Cusco still remains silent. From your hotel you will travel to an open area where the technical team will extend the envelope of the globe on the ground and prepare the burners.

You will observe how the hot air begins to fill the structure until it is lifted slowly. When the pilot confirms that the wind is adequate, you will enter the basket to make a captive flight: the balloon will ascend subject to the ground by safety cables, instead of moving freely over the Sacred Valley.

From the top you can observe fields, mountains and the rural landscape of the surroundings of Cusco. The ascent lasts approximately 15 minutes and can reach up to about 100 meters, provided that the wind, the weight of the passengers and the operating conditions allow it.

After the descent you will share a picnic breakfast and a toast with a glass of champagne, following a tradition associated with balloon flights.

With Peceros Agency Travel, the program includes pick-up, transportation, pilot, captive flight, breakfast and attendance throughout the activity.

Daily Schedule

Itinerary

DAY 1

Pick up from the hotel in Cusco

Highlights: early sunrise to the area where the balloon will be installed.

The pickup will start at approximately 5:00 a.m. from hotels located within the operating area of Cusco.

The historic center has narrow streets, stairs and sectors without vehicular access. When transport cannot reach the door, a close meeting point will be established.

The passenger must wait prepared at the reception, wearing warm clothes and only a small backpack.

Before leaving, the coordinator will check:

  • Full name.
  • Number of passengers.
  • Approximate weight.
  • Medical conditions declared.

Sensations during the flight

The balloon does not produce the same movement as a plane.

Displacement may feel smooth, but the bursts can cause lateral movements or cause the basket to rotate slightly.

You will also feel the sound and warmth of the burners when the pilot activates them.

The temperature may be cold in the field, although short periods of heat are perceived near the burner.

Technical Details

  • Collection time: approximately 5:00 a.m.
  • Transportation: minivan or tourist vehicle.
  • Pre- Breakfast: not necessary, as a feeding after the flight is included.
  • The original text places the activity in the environment of Chinchero. This destination is located about 28 kilometers from the city of Cusco, although the exact point of operation can change according to the wind, access and authorization of the land.
  • During the trip, the coordinator will explain the intended order of the morning.
  • Altitude: similar or superior to the city of Cusco, depending on the place.
  • Safety distance: established by staff.

Important Service Information

Pick up from the hotel The pickup is planned at approximately 5:00 a.m. The exact time will be communicated the day before. When the vehicle cannot enter the street, a nearby point will be established.

Availability

Fixed departures are announced for Sundays, from May to December.

Reservations for another day of the week are subject to:

  • Availability of the pilot.
  • Technical staff.
  • Minimum number of passengers.
  • Weather conditions.

When traveling a single person, you should check if there is a group confirmed for the date.

Shared departures usually require a minimum of passengers.

We recommend booking several days or weeks in advance, especially for:

  • Marriage proposals.
  • Private groups.
  • Dates with cameraman.

Tour availability does not guarantee flight when the wind is unsafe.

Information on Captive Flight

The balloon remains secured by several wires.

The system allows:

  • Control the height.
  • Keep the balloon close to the field.
  • Make short climbs.
  • Use the same area to land.
  • Organize several groups.

Do not allow:

  • Fly freely over long distances.
  • Choose a route.
  • Cross the entire Sacred Valley.
  • Land in another community.
  • Guarantee views of a specific archaeological site.

Transport information

Transportation covers:

  • I pick up from Cusco.
  • Transfer to the field.
  • Wait during the activity.
  • Return to Cusco.
  • completion at the confirmed point.

The unit can be shared in the group service and exclusive in the private service.

The trip can take about an hour per stretch.

Travel restrictions and participation

Wind and climate

The activity may be suspended by:

  • Strong wind.
  • Changing direction.
  • Electric storm.
  • Low visibility.
  • Dangerous clouds.
  • Unstable soil.

The pilot has the final decision.

Medical restrictions

The flight may not be recommended for people with:

  • Recent surgeries.
  • Uncontrolled heart problems.
  • Serious respiratory diseases.
  • Uncontrolled epilepsy.
  • severe balance problems.
  • Disabling vertigo.
  • Panic attacks related to height.
  • Injuries that prevent the basket from entering.
  • Conditions that may cause loss of consciousness.

The operator can request medical clearance.

Mobility

The passenger must be able to:

  • Walking on grass or earth.
  • Get in the basket.
  • Stay standing for 15 minutes.
  • Adopt the right position.
  • Get out with help at the end.

Conventional baskets are not always wheelchair-friendly.

People with crutches, cane or reduced mobility should check before paying.

Age and Stature

The involvement of children depends on:

  • Ability to see over the basket.
  • Ability to follow instructions.
  • Criteria of the pilot.
  • Authorization of responsible adult.

A child should not be charged during the flight.

Alcohol and substances

Participation is not permitted under the effects of:

  • Medicines that affect balance.

The pilot may deny boarding without return when there is a risk.

Strikes and demonstrations

Blocks can prevent the transfer to Chinchero or another flight zone.

Peceros Agency Travel may:

  • Overtake the pickup.
  • Change the field.
  • Modify the meeting point.
  • Cancel the service.

Safety will take precedence.

Lost objects

Each passenger is responsible for their belongings.

Review:

  • Breakfast area.
  • Photo point.

The agency will help you consult with the suppliers, but does not guarantee recovery.

Prohibited conduct

Not allowed:

  • Crossing the wires.
  • Manipulate burners.
  • Touching cylinders.
  • Enter the basket without authorization.
  • Jumping inside the basket.

  • Consume alcohol before the flight.
  • Ignore the pilot.
  • Approach the fan.
  • Smoking near the team.
  • Light fire.
  • Entering crops without authorization.
  • Shed waste.

The price structure was preserved exactly. Two important operating points were corrected: the service is a captive flight, not a free tour of the Sacred Valley, and the toast with champagne must be made after the descent, not before embarking.
