Walk along the heights of Acomayo towards a pre-Hispanic construction on the Apurímac Canyon

Before dawn you will leave Cusco for the southern high provinces. The road crosses rural towns, agricultural fields and mountains until reaching Saint Lucia, where the hike to Waqrapukara begins.

The trail advances along a high Andean plateau before showing one of the most unique images of Cusco: two large rock formations raised on terraces and stone walls, next to the deep slopes of the Apurímac river canyon.

Waqrapukara brings together natural elements and pre-Hispanic constructions. Their function continues to be interpreted. It is related to ceremonial activities, territorial control, political organization and strategic use of the landscape, but there is no single fully demonstrated explanation.

With Peceros Agency Travel, the program includes pickup, transportation, bilingual guide, entrance, breakfast, box lunch, medicine cabinet and oxygen for initial care.

The hike takes place above 4,000 meters. It is not a technical route, but height, wind and uneven terrain require acclimatization and adequate physical condition.
