Itinerary
Cusco – Cachora – Capuliyoc – Playa Rosalina – Santa Rosa
Highlight of the day: First view of Choquequirao from Capuliyoc, descent to the Apurímac Canyon and camp in Santa Rosa.
We will leave Cusco at approximately 4:00 a.m. by tourist transport.
The tour will continue to the Cachora sector, where we will make a stop for breakfast and organize the equipment that will be transported by the horses.
The exact point from where the walk will begin will depend on the conditions of the road and the confirmed operation. Some programs start directly in Capuliyoc, while others contemplate sectors close to Cachora or San Pedro.
Breakfast and team organization
After arriving in the established sector we will have breakfast.
The Arrieros will organize:

Descent to Chiquiska
We will begin a prolonged descent along a curved path.

It is a warmer sector with a greater presence of vegetation. Depending on the schedule, you can take a break to rest, use basic services or buy drinks.
The services available may be limited.
Rosalina Beach
We will continue down to Playa Rosalina, located near the Apurímac River and approximately 1.550 m m above sea level
In this sector we will have lunch.
The temperature can be considerably higher than in Cusco and Capuliyoc. There may also be mosquitoes.
After resting we will cross the river and start the ascent towards Santa Rosa.
Promotion to Santa Rosa
The last stretch of the day is a continuous climb.
After a prolonged descent, this ascent can feel demanding. Walk slowly and communicate any discomfort to the guide.
We will arrive at Santa Rosa, approximately 2,115 m m above sea level, where the camp will be installed.
Camp in Santa Rosa
Upon arrival:
- The shops will be allocated.
- You’ll have time to change.
- A hot drink will be served.
- The cook will prepare dinner.

The infrastructure is basic and may vary depending on the camp used.

The day will start early, at approximately 5:00 a.m.
After breakfast we will start the ascent to Marampata.
Ascent from Santa Rosa
This section is one of the most demanding of the program.
The trail ascends through constant curves and slopes. As altitude is gained, views of the canyon and surrounding mountains begin to appear.
During the climb, short breaks will be made.
Marampata
Marampata is a small community located before access to Choquequirao.
From this place you get views towards:
- The Apurímac canyon, when applicable to the confirmed itinerary and operating conditions.
- Sectors of Choquequirao, when applicable to the confirmed itinerary and operating conditions.
- Mountains of the area.
- Fields cultivated by local families.
In a local house or assigned establishment we will have lunch before continuing.
Hike to Choquequirao
From Marampata we will continue for approximately two hours to the archaeological complex.
The route combines open sectors, dirt roads, unevenness and vegetation zones.
Upon arrival the entry register will be made and the guided tour will begin.
Choquequirao Archaeological Complex
Choquequirao is distributed over different levels and sectors.
During the visit you can visit, depending on the time and the areas enabled:

One of the most well-known spaces contains figures of camelids built with clear stones on the walls of the terraces.

The team will offer you a hot drink in the store before breakfast.
Then we will organize the camp and start the return.
Departure from Raqaypata
We will walk again towards Marampata and begin the descent towards Santa Rosa.
During the tour you can observe for the last time certain sectors of Choquequirao and the canyon.
Descent to Santa Rosa
The trail has a prolonged descent.
Although lowering requires less cardiovascular effort, it increases pressure on the knees and ankles.
We recommend:

After lunch we will start the climb to Chiquiska.
This ascent can be difficult due to accumulated fatigue and heat.
The group will walk at a controlled pace until they reach camp.
Camp in Chiquiska
In Chiquiska we will have the last night of camp.
After you install:

- You’ll have time to rest.
- Dinner will be offered.

After breakfast we will start the final promotion.
Promotion to Capuliyoc
The hike continues from Chiquiska along the same trail used on the first day.
The ascent is constant and can feel demanding due to accumulated fatigue.
During the tour you will observe again:

- Mountains of the area.
- Sectors of the path traveled.
- Padrayoc when there is visibility.
- Communities and agricultural land.
End of the walk
The hike will end in Capuliyoc, Cachora or the set point to find transportation.

After gathering the group and organizing the team, we will start the return to Cusco.
Thermal waters of Cconoc
When the schedule, the road and the operating conditions allow it, we will make a stop in the thermal waters of Cconoc.
Entry is not included.
